A 27-year-old ex-convict, Daniel Doodu has been shot dead by personnel of the Ghana Police Service during a shootout at Ashaiman.
The ex-convict was part of a gang of robbers that attacked some residents of Christian village, a settlement close to Tema International School.
The robbery attack which was foiled by the Police patrol team following a tip off happened around 4:00am Sunday.
The robbers unlawfully entered a home belonging to a resident who is currently out of the country.
Tema Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Juliana Obeng told Adom News’ Louisa Ayensu Peters that the deceased opened fire at the patrol team when the policemen got to the house.
The Police then returned fire, killing him in the process.
he Police PRO added that a search on him revealed that he had live cartridges.
His body has since been deposited at the Police hospital morgue awaiting autopsy.
